IMC is playing an important part in enabling the Bangladesh Department of Fisheries to scientifically and sustainably manage the country’s fisheries resources.
Reflecting IMC’s international clientele, its latest fisheries research and survey vessel design was recently launched at the Sumber Samudra shipyard in Malaysia.
In developing the design the company’s naval architects and engineers drew on IMC’s previous experience with fishing boats and research vessels. This track record includes design work for both newbuilds and conversions, as well as the development of requirements and technical specifications; and construction supervision.
Demonstrating the utility and versatility of IMC’s design, the 37.8 metre RV Meen Shandhani is capable of mid-water and bottom trawling, beam trawling, pot/trap fishing and oceanographic research including sea bottom sampling.
Propulsion for this latest fisheries research vessel is from a single Cummins QSK38-M diesel engine driving a fixed pitch propeller through a Twin Disc gearbox.
