IMC Naval Architects (IMC) is an independent Australian naval architecture and marine engineering consultancy servicing the global commercial, private and defence sectors. Headquartered in Fremantle, Australia since 1994, IMC provides ship design, vessel modification & conversion, naval architecture, offshore engineering, and acquisition management services. Independent of shipyards and OEMs, advice is free of third-party influence with services backed by a team of experienced Naval Architects operating to ISO 9001:2000 QMS utilising the latest digital design tools.

Ship Design

Working in concert with clients, IMC ensures a clear understanding of operational objectives before combining the skills and experience of all parties to optimise vessel design solutions. From requirements definition through concept development, detailed structural and systems engineering and shipyard production requirements, IMC is able to scale design cycle deliverables to project needs.

Drawing on its comprehensive newbuilding design capability, and with experience and expertise across marine sectors and regulatory regimes, IMC is also able to offer project-related vessel modifications through to full vessel conversions to unlock value in existing marine assets.

IMC operates to an ISO 9001:2000 QMS and is accredited to undertake AMSA plan approval. A member of the Australian Dept. of Defence – Defence Support Services (DSS) panel with DISP accreditation, IMC offers consultancy services both above and below the line to Australian State and Federal Government agencies, maintaining a presence in Canberra to facilitate Commonwealth engagement.
